Start Your Morning Right
We all want to be successful we want to reach our goals and make our dreams come true. Yet, sometimes it feels we get stuck in a rut, we waste time and things seem to fall through our hands. Taking charge of your life starts with how you start your day. Starting the day on the right foot can make all the difference.
Have a morning routine. Routines can be extremely good and helpful for anyone with a busy schedule and if you are trying to run or start your own business or venture you need to save time and streamline your activities and time.
1.) Don’t snooze
When you wake up jump out of bed with enthusiasm for the day. Sleep studies show that when you hit the snooze button and go back to sleep you are fooling your body which results in your body never shaking the sleepiness and you can actually spend the day feeling groggy and on edge. Start your day with purpose and with determination. Start it with decivisnce. When the alarm goes off arise and meet the day. I first learned of this principle through the book “Buried Treasure” by Rabbi Daniel Latin. The book is full of rich lessons learned from the Hebrew language. It’s a book I highly recommend.
2.) Make Your Bed
Do not start the day with a mess. Admiral William McRaven wrote a book entitled Make Your Bed: Small Things That Can Change Your Life … and Maybe the World. In it he discusses the importance of making your bed. The importance of discipline, of doing the small task every day can lead to the accomplishment of further tasks throughout the day. Your bed is the focal point of your room, having a made bed creates order even if your room is a bit messy. Getting into a made bed at the end of the night can also help you sleep better, as well.
3.) Read the Bible
This is a Christian blog, so it should not surprise anyone that this is on the list. Starting your day with the promises of God invites God into your day. Have a list of verses you speak that proclaim the promises you need. Speak them everyday and allow the power of the word to enter your life.
4.) A Good Meal and a cup of coffee
I have had many people rail against me for my coffee love. To me coffee is like a hug from the inside. All i have to say to the coffee haters is that science is on my side. Scienctic studies show coffee is actually goos for you. John Hopkins Medicine published an article of ( reasons coffee is good for you. Among those are the reduction of heart disease, diabetes, and kidney disease. It can also lower your chance of Alzheimer’s disease. So go ahead Ann pour a cup of coffee and enjoy. Maybe sure you also pair it with a good breakfast. WebMd recommends carbs and protein to give you he nutrients and fuel your body and brain need. It doesn’t have to be tradiational breakfast food, either. Find something that works for you.
5.) Have your outfit picked our ahead of time
I call it wardrobe planning. I pick out my outfits for the week and each night hang the next day’s clothes on the back of my bedroom door so it’s ready. Trying to pick our an outfit can be stressful, you might spend a good chunk of time trying to search for a blouse, skirt or other shoes and become frustrated and take that frustration into your day. Having your outfit ready means no searching, it eliminates the stress of many decisions early in the morning, and it creates an efficiency of time.
6.) Look at flowers
It was many years ago when I was listening to the radio and heard this fact. It said citified studies showed that looking at flowers helps you awake and feel more energized. So, feel free to indulge in some fresh flowers or a beautiful painting of flowers. It’s for science.
7.) Energizing Scent
I find that when I’m feeling groggy or sluggish using either a room spray, essential oil, or a lovely perfume to fragrance myself or surrounding helps motivate me. On days when jumping out of bed is not looking so great, I spritz a nice body spray around me and the gorgeous scent helps me feel uplifted. I like light floral scents and citrus scents. This works really well in the shower, as well.
This is the most challenging for me. I’m a creature of comfort and prefer to snuggle in a robe, however, once I get myself to do it I’m glad I did. I nice invigorating walk helps get the blood going and adds to your sense of accomplishment. It’s good for your body, it’s good for your mind, and it doesn’t have to be difficult.
9.) Check your Planner/Journal
Check your planner and make notes about the days goals. Spending some time writing is good for he creativity and can get anything that is weighing you down off your chest. A morning journal is a pleasant excessive for the mind and imagination. You can get creative and add some art, and set your goals.
10.) Be Thankful
Starting the day being thankful for all your blessings God has given you lets God know you praise him for everything you have. an attitude of gratitude allows more good into your life. You can say it, write it done or think it. However, you do it do it with a glad heart and start your day joyous with the Lord.
