Faith when it counts
It’s easy or us to tell other to have faith or have shocked expressions of disbelief when we hear how others have lacked faith. It’s easy to have faith in the small things or when times are easy. There are, though, those times that truly try the soul when we are tested the most.
But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.
James 1:6 New International Version (NIV)
Have you had those days of being tossed by the sea of doubt? Have you ever watched movies where ships are ring tossed here and there and you wrap your blanket tighter around yourself glad you are in the comfort of your own home? Well, are those ships when we doubt. we need to look to Jesus to calm the sea and get us safely to the other side.
When times get hard we need to press on all the more to God. Find a scripture that speaks to your present circumstance. If you need deliverance, protection, provision, whatever it is there is a verse for you. Find at least on and hold it to you. Speak it out loud, pray it, meditate on it. Let it be your anchor. Get in the Bible. Ask God to lead you to in reading it. The word has power because it is the word of God. Every promise in it is given by God. He keep his promises, he has to because he cannot lie. Find peace in knowing the God you serve is the master of the universe, creator of everything and he knows exactly what you are going through and he loves you. When fear starts getting at me I repeat the verse, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind,” 2 Timothy 1:7. I say it out loud. I say it my mind. I say it until I feel at peace.
God promises us that his eyes are on hose who put their hope in his unfailing love, “ But the eyes of the Lord are on those who fear him, on those whose hope is in his unfailing love,” Pslam33:18. Did you read that, unfailing love. Hold on. Activate your faith. Faith has the ability to moves mountains. It is through faith that we please God. Do not be discouraged. Even if you have gotten yourself into a mess because of bad choices you are now calling on God to rescue you and he will. The bigger the mess the bigger the miracle and our God is a miracle working God. Read through the book of Esther, God saved his people and those that plotted their demise fell into the pit they dug.
Do not get stuck in thinking about how you could have avoided your problem, don’t replay over and over in your mind the things you could have done differently. If you sinned, then learn and move forward. Don’t let the devil trap you in wallowing in your mistakes. God can and will use everything to your God for his Glory. Get on your knees and praise and worship God and let faith take hold.
God is in charge now, “You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.” 1 John 4:4
